Why Browser-Based Tools Matter for Privacy

Most online tools upload your files to their servers. Here's why browser-based processing is fundamentally different.

Most online tools ask you to upload your files to their servers. You click "compress image" or "merge PDF," and your data travels across the internet to someone else's computer.

This is the default. It's so common that most people don't question it.

The Problem with Server-Side Processing

When you upload a file to an online tool:

  1. Your data leaves your device
  2. It's processed on a remote server

  4. The server could log, store, or share your files
